Danny
Who they are
The youngest of the cell, and the one the book uses to show what the others have made of him. C06 puts the reader beside him in the van with Joon’s cling-filmed corpse, noting that the man had been alive the day before, and that in three years in the country he has still not stopped finding British life soft. He questions Shin’s decisions in silence and then out loud: C10 has him pressing about the girl Shin claimed to have killed, C11 has him accusing Shin of letting Kim Park go.
He is shot in the face by An for it, mid-sentence, and the book does not give him a funeral or a name beyond “Danny”.

Open questions
Whether his memory of Kim’s death is a lie he was told or a lie he told, and whether the cell’s three remaining members agree about what happened to her.
